WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest football team has received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for its Academic Progress Rate (APR) score.
The APR is a multi-year rate based on the most recent four years of data and is a real-time measure of eligibility and retention of student-athletes competing on every Division I sports team. The awards are presented annually to teams finishing among the top 10 percent of their respective sport based on the most recent multi-year APR. The 2017-18 academic year is the 14th year of the program.
Wake Forest football earned recognition for the first time in school history. The Demon Deacons join Duke, Clemson and Boston College to represent the ACC, and Wake Forest is one of only 14 FBS football programs nationally to receive recognition.
Among the 14 schools recognized for their APR scores, only Wake Forest and Northwestern have won three consecutive bowl games.
