A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday afternoon (June 11) to honor former Wake Forest volleyball coach Heather Kahl Holmes in Wait Chapel on the Wake Forest University Reynolda Campus.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception took place in Varsity Gym inside the Wake Forest Wellbeing Center. Friends and family gathered to visit a tree that was planted in memory of Heather near Kentner Stadium.
Heather passed away on May 29 at home with her family by her side. She served as Wake Forest's head volleyball coach from 2005-12 until stepping down after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Heather is survived by her husband Michael, a former Wake Forest baseball standout, and their son Landon, 7.
