WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest seniors Cade Carney and Justin Strnad will represent Wake Forest at the ACC Football Kickoff on Wednesday, July 17 at the Westin Charlotte.
All of the ACC's Atlantic Division teams will be represented including Wake Forest, Clemson, Boston College, Syracuse, Louisville, Florida State and NC State. The Coastal Division teams will meet with the media on Thursday, July 18.
"As senior captains, Cade and Justin have been great players and leaders and they will do an outstanding job representing Wake Forest at the ACC Football Kickoff," said head coach Dave Clawson.
Clawson, Carney and Strnad will spend the day meeting with print, broadcast and internet media outlets including The ACC Network which will launch on August 19.
Carney, a 5-11, 215-pound senior running back from Advance, N.C. (Davidson Day), rushed for 1,005 yards last season in becoming Wake Forest's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2005. Carney enters his senior season ranked 15th in school history with 1,826 career rushing yards. In 2018, he led the team with 189 carries and a 5.3 yards per carry average along with a team-high eight rushing touchdowns. He showed his explosive ability with a career-high 223 yards rushing in the regular season finale at Duke.
Strnad, a 6-3, 235-pound redshirt senior inside linebacker from Palm Harbor, Fla. (East Lake), led Wake Forest with 105 tackles in 2018 while earning honorable mention All-ACC honors. He had six games of 10 or more tackles including five of the final seven games of the season. A versatile special teams player, Strnad logged over 1,000 snaps last year and led the team in tackles in six games.
