Deacons Place Record 226 Student-Athletes on ACC Academic Honor Roll

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2018-19 Academic Honor Roll recipients on Tuesday (July 9). A total of 226 Wake Forest student-athletes made the list. The previous record was 201 during the 2015-16 academic year.
"I am very proud of our student-athletes and their ability to balance academics and athletics," Jane Caldwell, Sr. Associate AD, Student-Athlete Services and Assistant to the Dean said. "They represent the University and the Athletic Department with integrity and determination."
The honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.
Leading the way for the Demon Deacons was track and field with a combined 51, including 28 women and 23 men. Football followed with 47 student-athletes on the ACC Honor Roll. Women's soccer had an impressive 26 student-athletes on the ACC Honor Roll while eight of nine women's golfers made the list.
Field hockey had 19 representatives followed by baseball (13), volleyball (12), men's soccer (10), men's tennis (9), women's basketball (9), women's tennis (8), men's basketball (8) and men's golf (6).
24 Demon Deacons made the list for the fourth time in their careers. The ACC set a record with 4,769 student-athletes being recognized, surpassing last year's record of 4,618.
