The Demon Deacons received nine of the 12 first-place votes in the Atlantic Division.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team was projected to win the ACC Atlantic Division, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
In voting conducted among the conference's head coaches, the Demon Deacons received nine of the 12 first-place votes in the Atlantic Division. North Carolina was picked as the overall champion, receiving nine of the 12 first-place votes overall, while Wake Forest received one.
"We're certainly proud of the culture we've put in place and the program we've built the past few years, and this ranking is a testament to that," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "At the same time, games aren't won based on preseason rankings and we know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us still."
MAC Hermann Trophy watch list selection Bruno Lapa was also named to the ACC's Preseason Watch List.
Wake Forest received 64 points in the Atlantic Division, ahead of Louisville (48), Syracuse (42), NC State (38), Clemson (36) and Boston College (18). North Carolina totaled 65 points in the Coastal Division, followed by Virginia (46), Duke (45), Virginia Tech (38), Notre Dame (36) and Pitt (16).
