The Demon Deacons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and earned a 3-2 victory.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- No. 4 Wake Forest jumped out to a 3-0 lead and finished out a 3-2 victory over Army West Point to wrap up preseason play at Spry Stadium on Saturday night.

Justin McMaster had a hand in all three goals, scoring the opener less than three minutes in and assisting on the next two.

Aristotle Zarris and Bruno Lapa added a goal and assist each, as well.

McMaster scored at the 2:15 mark on a close-range tap in off assists from Lapa and Zarris.

Exactly six minute slater, Zarris finished off a McMaster cross to push the lead to 2-0.

The Demon Deacons added a third goal in the 64th minute, when Lapa scored off assists from Alistair Johnston and McMaster.

Army answered back with a pair of late goals to tighten the gap. In the 67th minute, Wake Forest's Andrew Pannenberg saved a penalty kick, but Keenan O'Shea tapped in his own rebound to put the Black Knights on the board. Justin McStay added another Army goal with less than two minutes remaining.

"We've got a long way to go if we want to win games in the best soccer conference in the country or against a really good UCF team," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "We've gotten better for sure. But to try to get young guys in the game and get them experience, there was a bit of a drop-off due to nerves...We had older guys making silly mistakes too."

Wake Forest had a 15-6 advantage in shots, including a 6-0 margin in the first half.

The regular season opens on Friday night at 6 p.m. against No. 15 UCF.
