Cross Country Preseason Polls Released

The Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2019 men's and women's cross country coaches poll today (Aug. 29). The Wake Forest men's team is predicted to finish sixth in the conference, while on the women's side, Wake is picked to finish eighth.
Last year the Wake Forest men's team finished fifth at the ACC Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. It marked the program's highest finish since a fourth place finish in 2005. The women finished eighth.
Zach Facioni took second place in the 2018 ACC Championship and All-ACC honors. Samantha Halvorsen was the top finisher on the women's side for the Demon Deacons in 19th place and earned All-ACC honors as well.
In the USTFCCCA preseason rankings, the Demon Deacons' men's team is ranked sixth in the Southeast region while the women are ranked fourth in the region.
The men's team advanced to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships at Winthrop Farms in Rock Hill, S.C. and finished fifth. The women's team took fourth. Both Facioni and Halvorsen took all-region honors.
The team opens the season on August 30 in Charlotte, N.C. Highlights of the season include trips to Charlottesville and Blacksburg, Va., Boston, Mass., and Madison, Wis. The team will return to Blacksburg on Nov. 1 for the ACC Championship.
