Former Demon Deacons Essang Bassey and Justin Herron are set to compete in the Senior Bowl on Saturday
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After four former Deacs competed in college all-star games a week ago, two former Wake Forest football players are set to play in the Senior Bowl this weekend in Mobile, Alabama.
Offensive lineman Justin Herron and defensive back Essang Bassey as both Deacons will be competing for the North Team. Bassey and Herron have been working all week with the Detroit Lions staff who is coaching the North Team in the game on Saturday.
During practice this week, Bassey has working both in the slot and on the outside. Herron has spent time both out at tackle and inside at guard.
The Senior Bowl is scheduled to kickoff tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. on NFL Network.
Last week, in the NFLPA Bowl it was a battle of former Wake Forest players as defensive back Amari Henderson and wide receiver Kendall Hinton helped the National Team defeat wide receiver Scotty Washington, 30-20, in Pasadena, California.
Meanwhile in Tampa, Florida, offensive lineman Jake Benzinger suited up in the East-West Shrine Game. He helped the East squad to a 31-27 victory.
