All-ACC Academic Cross Country
Cross Country Places Five on All-ACC Academic Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Five members of the Wake Forest cross country teams have earned recognition on the All-ACC Academic team for 2019, the league office announced Thursday. Madeline Rehm and Elise Wright were honored from the women's team while Brent Bailey, Carter Coughlin and Zach Facioni received recognition from the men's team.
"These student-athletes are great examples of what we are striving to be within the Wake Forest athletics department and the track and field/cross country program - great students and athletes," said head coach John Hayes. "I am very proud of the way each of them represents our program."
Rehm, a freshman from Commerce, Mich. (Lakeland), was Wake Forest's second-leading finisher at the NCAA Southeast Regional in November and earned All-Region honors. She had one top 10, two top 20 and three top 25 finishes in the fall.
Wright has earned her second All-ACC Academic award after receiving the honor for outdoor track in 2019. Wright was a second team All-ACC selection at the ACC Cross Country Championship in November, 2019. She was the top finisher for the Demon Deacons at three meets in the fall including the ACC Championship and won the Virginia Tech Invitational in September.
Brent Bailey, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va. (Ocean Lakes), earned All-ACC Academic recognition after finishing 34th at the ACC Championship at Virginia Tech in November.
Carter Coughlin, a redshirt freshman from Knoxville, Tenn. (Webb School) was one of Wake Forest's top runners in the fall and posted top 30 finishes in both the ACC Championship and the NCAA Southeast Regional.
Zach Facioni, a sophomore from Sydney, Australia, earned his fourth All-ACC Academic Award. He was recognized for his accomplishments in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track during the 2018-19 season.
Facioni earned first team all-ACC honors last fall with his fourth place finish at the ACC Championship in Blacksburg, Va. He was Wake Forest's top finisher in three events and earned all-region honors with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional
