Williamson Immediately Eligible for First Season with Demon Deacons

Williamson averaged 10.4 points last season and 9.5 as a freshman in 2018-19 at ETSU under Coach Forbes.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Men's basketball transfer Daivien Williamson has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA.

"Our staff is extremely excited for Daivien and his family," Coach Steve Forbes said. 'With that, our program is appreciative of the NCAA's understanding of his situation, and are thankful to Wake Forest's administration and compliance staff for their role in helping guide Daivien and our coaching staff through this process. Additionally, East Tennessee State University was integral in this process and we are grateful for their efforts on this front." 

Williamson, a 6-2, 170-pound guard, has two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning this fall. 

Williamson averaged 10.4 points last season and 9.5 as a freshman in 2018-19 at ETSU under Coach Forbes. Additionally, he had a combined 170 assists, made 65 of 172 3-pointers (37.7%) and connected on 140 of 172 free throws (81.4%) over the past two seasons.

In his senior season at Winston-Salem Prep, Williamson was named the school's first recipient of the Frank Spencer Award, the Winston-Salem Journal's award for the top boys basketball player in the Northwest as voted on by coaches. The Phoenix won the Class 1-A state championship in his senior season, with Williamson averaging 23.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
