The Steve Forbes era will begin with a three-day (Nov. 25-27) multi-team event at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --  Wake Forest will open the 2020-21 men's basketball season by hosting the Mako Medical Wake Forest Classic in Lawrence Joel Veteran's Memorial Coliseum Thanksgiving week. Division I foes Longwood of the Big South Conference, Delaware State (MEAC) and Alabama State (SWAC) will all travel to Winston-Salem and the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the event, consisting of three doubleheaders Nov. 25-27.

Each Wake Forest contest of the multi-team event will be telecast live on ACC Network Extra, with [1] [2] potential additional ACCN and other network coverage to be determined.

"Our players and staff are excited to open the season with the Mako Medical Wake Forest Classic inside Joel Coliseum," new Head Coach Steve Forbes said. "We are extremely appreciative of our University leadership, Winston-Salem, and all three schools for their commitment to begin this season in a safe and healthy environment and provide our players the chance to compete."

All participating teams will follow a Wake Forest University approved quarantine and safety procedure including the Atlantic Coast Conference's COVID-19 testing protocol, to be administered by Mako Medical, a leading national provider of COVID-19 PCR testing solutions headquartered in Raleigh, N.C.

"Mako has been a great partner since this summer in administering our Wake Forest Athletics testing program that has helped keep our student-athletes, coaches and staff safe," said director of athletics John Currie. "We appreciate Mako stepping up to help enable these three teams to visit Winston-Salem for six days. We are excited to launch the season with three double-headers in what should be a highly entertaining event right here in our hometown."

Game times and additional event information will be unveiled closer to the event. Exact fan attendance limitations are unknown at this time under Phase III guidance. Wake Forest Athletics will continue to work to demonstrate its ability to safely host player families, students and fans in home venues.

Additional details are forthcoming on non-conference and ACC schedules for the Deacs men's basketball program.

Fan Information
Wake Forest will comply with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services guidance on fan capacity. The current expansion of gathering sizes under NCDHHS for phase three only applies to outdoor venues that can seat more than 10,000 fans. Wake Forest Athletics will follow the state's guidance to preserve the safety of its student-athletes, coaches, staff and the entire University and Winston-Salem community.

Additional information will be communicated closer to the games.
