Demon Deacons Hit the Road for Clemson Matchup
10/28/2020 11:28:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball team will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Clemson Tigers in Clemson.
The Deacs will likely close their fall season at Clemson after Florida State had to postpone matches last week. There is no plan to reschedule those matches this fall as of now.
Coach's Comments
On the season…
"This is the longest shortest season ever. We're in a good place right now. Having Florida State cancelled was tough but knowing Clemson is a sure thing and we will have these matches helped us push through, we got our 'fun' back into the gym. It's been tough to get any consistency and rhythm with the way our schedule has played out, but I think the team has learned a lot from this and we're in a good place right now." - Coach Smart
On the Clemson/Georgia Tech/Miami/Florida State POD…
"It's tough but I love being in this pod. We are trying to get to that next level, and we have to play the best teams to do that. I would play any team in this pod every day if we could just to get the team used to that mentality. Our team needs to see what a high-energy, high-level program looks like and this conference and this pod shows us that. If that's where we want to be, we need to see what it looks like and face it head on. There is no other pod I would rather be in when it comes to learning from our opponents and playing some of the best teams in this conference." - Coach Smart
On Clemson…
"Our service pressure is looking better but Clemson is strong, they're strong on the right side. If we want to give our offense an opportunity, we just have to be able to pass the volleyball. We have to be better in transition and be able to score some points." - Coach Smart
