This marks the second-straight week in which a Demon Deacon has earned the award after the junior’s brace led Wake Forest to a 4-1 victory Saturday night.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After recording two goals including the game-winning strike in Saturday night's 4-1 victory over NC State, Wake Forest junior Kyle Holcomb has been named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league has announced. Holcomb shares the award with Clemson's Mohamed Seye.
This marks the first time the San Marcos, Calif., native has earned the weekly honor and the second-straight week a Demon Deacon has shared the award, as Holcomb joins sophomore Calvin Harris as a ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
During Wake Forest's three-goal victory in the team's ACC opener, Holcomb opened up scoring when he buried a goal in the 36th minute past NC State goalkeeper Leon Krapf.
After NC State tied up the game at 1-1 just before halftime, Holcomb struck for the brace less than a minute into the second half when he took a pass from sophomore Jake Swallen to once again beat Krapf.
Holcomb currently leads the ACC in points (six), shots on goal (four) and goals (three).
Wake Forest returns to action on Saturday night when the Demon Deacons host UAB for a 7 p.m. kick at Spry Stadium. The match will air live on ACCNX.
