Hannah Betfort was named third team All-ACC, while Sophie Faircloth was picked to the All-Freshman Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Two Demon Deacons were honored as the ACC announced its women's soccer all-conference selections Friday afternoon in voting conducted among the league head coaches.

Hannah Betfort was selected as a third-team All-ACC honoree, while Sophie Faircloth was picked as an ACC All-Freshman Team recipient.

A two-year team captain, Betfort anchored a back line which recorded four shutouts. She also tallied an assist against Virginia Tech.

"I am ecstatic to see that two of our players have been recognized by our ACC coaching group," head coach Tony da Luz said. "Hannah has been such a dominant presence since her move to center back. She has embraced the change in position in the best interest of the team, fought through injuries and worked hard to improve everyday. I am so proud of her performances and leadership in this difficult season."

In her rookie campaign, Faircloth led the team with three goals from the back line. She scored an Olimpico with a goal directly from a corner kick against North Carolina, and added a pair of goals in a game against Virginia Tech.

"Sophie has been our most consistent defender and arguably our best player this fall," da Luz added. "She adapted at the left back position and gave us lock down defending and an incredible attacking presence. I could not be more proud of Sophie, she earned and deserves this significant recognition."

Wake Forest finished the fall season with a 3-5-1 record, with six of the nine games coming against opponents at one point ranked in the top 15. The NCAA has moved its soccer championships to the spring. The spring season can begin Feb. 3, with the College Cup slated for May 13-17.
