Happy Bowl Selection Sunday Deacon Nation,
As announced just a few hours ago, Coach Clawson and our football Demon Deacons are going bowling for a program-record fifth-straight year! Wake Forest is honored to represent the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Duke's Mayo Bowl and take on the Wisconsin Badgers from the Big Ten Conference.
President Hatch, Coach Clawson and our entire University community join me in thanking Executive Director Danny Morrison for the invitation to Charlotte and we appreciate Duke's Mayo for their partnership in creating a fun, healthy and safe postseason opportunity for our deserving student-athletes.
Kick-off is set for 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30 in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium on ESPN.
It seems like centuries ago, but it was just the last week of June when Demon Deacon football student-athletes started their return-to-campus quarantine protocols and resumed summer workouts. The resilience and dedication of our players and collective support and selfless effort of athletics & campus staff, medical personnel, faculty and fans led to some incredible moments like ESPN College Gameday's first-ever visit to Winston-Salem, and successive wins over Virginia and Virginia Tech amidst a 4-0 October run. Wake Forest joins Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, UNC and NC State as the six programs representing the ACC this bowl season.
COVID-19 precautions will limit in-person events in the Charlotte area for the game, but our Fan Experience staff is working hard to create unique virtual events for all to enjoy, including a virtual pep rally before the game next Wednesday. More information will be released on social media and GoDeacs.com as our plans develop.
Due to very limited capacity at Bank of America Stadium, tickets are unfortunately not available for sale through our ticket office. Fans are encouraged to monitor Ticketmaster to purchase tickets directly from the Charlotte Sports Foundation as they may become available.
Wisconsin has a proud football tradition with 14 Big Ten Championships and current streak of 19th-consecutive bowl games. It will be a clash of styles as Coach Clawson's squad ranks 19th in the country in scoring offense (37 ppg.), while UW is sixth in the nation in scoring defense (15.7 ppg.). I am fired up to watch our student-athletes compete one more time this year!

In closing Mary Lawrence and I wish you and yours a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Thank you for your loyal support of Demon Deacon student-athletes throughout this most challenging year!
Go Deacs!

John Currie
Director of Athletics
