GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following further consultation with the league's member institutions, and after previously suspending all athletic activities indefinitely, the ACC has made the decision to cancel all athletic related activities including all competition and practice through the end of the 2019-20 academic year. The unanimous decision was made to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19. Wake Forest Athletics, along with each member institution, will continue to work in accordance with University and North Carolina policies related to its individual campus decisions.

Further updates regarding the impact of COVID-19 on Wake Forest University is posted on Coronavirus.WFU.edu as well as communicated through social media (@WakeForest).

Statements:
ACC Commissioner John Swofford:
"Our top priority remains the health and safety of our student-athletes as well as our fans, communities and the overall well-being of others during these uncharted times. We are particularly disappointed for our student-athletes and will continue to work with our membership to assess what is appropriate in the future."

Director of Athletics John Currie:
"Since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis we have worked closely with the Atlantic Coast Conference and our fellow member institutions to make decisions centered around the health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans based upon the expertise of local, state and federal health officials.  Wake Forest fully supports the decision to officially conclude the 2019-20 athletic year and cancel all spring sports ACC Championships. While this is the right decision, we are sad for our student-athletes and coaches who had invested so much to be in position for what was to be an incredible spring season. We ask all members of Deacon Nation to continue to follow best practices to stay healthy and safe during these unprecedented times."
