This marks the third preseason All-America honor for Boogie Basham
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Redshirt senior Carlos "Boogie" Basham Jr. earned preseason All-America honors from Walter Camp Football Foundation, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Basham earned second team honors, making it the third preseason All-America team he has been named to so far this preseason. Earlier this week, the defensive lineman was listed as a second team preseason All-American by Athlon Sports and Lindy's Sports.
The Roanoke, Va. native has already started to rake in preseason national acclaim after being named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List. The award is given to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
After having a breakout season off the edge in 2019, Basham will look to solidify his place in the Wake Forest record book in his final season. He enters his senior season with 31 career tackles for loss and 15.5 career sacks, which ranks sixth in program history. Last season, the first team All-ACC honoree recorded 11.0 sacks, the second-most ever in a season by a Deacon and the most since 1992.
