WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's track and cross country student-athlete Anna Campbell has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America All- Academic team for District 3.
A junior from Newton, N.J. (Pope John XII), Campbell holds a double major in mathematical business and Latin. She is a member of the Dean's List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
"Anna has continued to work hard both in the classroom and on the track," said head coach John Hayes. "She is a joy to be around as she's always got a great attitude and a can-do spirit. We feel very fortunate to have Anna on our team as a tremendous example of what it means to be a student-athlete."
Campbell was one of just three ACC runners to make the District 3 team which includes student-athletes from North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Campbell took first place in the 5,000 meters at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson on Jan. 24 with a time of 17:42.28 and also ran for the Demon Deacons in the ACC Cross Country Championship last fall. She added two other top 10 finishes in the indoor season including a second place finish at the Darius Dixon Memorial at Liberty in February.
Campbell is the first member of the women's track or cross country teams to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team since Sarah Brobeck in 2012.
As a member of the All-District 3 team, Campbell will now appear on the ballot for Academic All-America. The CoSIDA Academic All-America team will be announced between June 22-25, 2020.
