WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest redshirt senior defensive lineman Carlos "Boogie" Basham Jr. continued to add to his preseason honors this week.
Both the USA Today and the Associated Press named Basham a second team All-American ahead of the 2020 season.
On top of earning All-America honors from numerous outlets this offseason, the Roanoke, Va. native has earned his spot on three national watch lists. Basham was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Lott IMPACT Trophy watch lists.
Basham comes into the season with 18 consecutive games with a tackle for loss, the longest streak in the country. He is the only player in the country to have a streak longer than 12 games.
Last season, he recorded 11.0 sacks, the second-most ever in a season by a Deacon and the most since 1992. Basham played a key role in in the Demon Deacons clinching the Big 4 Championship, tallying 5.5 sacks over those three games.
Basham also has 112 quarterback pressures over the past two seasons, most of any returning D-I player.
