Wake Forest Season Opener Set for Primetime on ABC Saturday Night Football

Following a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Sept. 12 between Wake Forest and Clemson, the Demon Deacons are slated to play at NC State (Saturday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m.) and against Campbell (Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m.) in primetime as well.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have announced kickoff times and the broadcast information for the league's opening weekend of college football. Wake Forest set to take on No. 1 Clemson at Truist Field on Sept 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes, University and community to be showcased in front of millions across the country as the college football season gets underway," Director of Athletics John Currie said. "Our student-athletes and staff have done all the right things in the face of the pandemic since they returned to campus in June, and we appreciate our partners at ESPN/ABC for coming to Wake Forest and Winston-Salem to share their story next week."
Additionally, it was announced that the Demon Deacons are slated to play at NC State (Saturday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m.) and against Campbell (Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m.) in primetime as well.
Wake Forest's contest against Clemson next week marks the first time the Demon Deacons will play in the ABC primetime game since Nov. 5, 2011 when Wake Forest visited Notre Dame and marks the third consecutive season Wake Forest will have an ABC game.
This season's matchup with Clemson marks the 86th game in series history. It is also the ninth time the Demon Deacons will play against the No. 1 team in the country. This is just the second time in program history Wake Forest will host the nation's top team, the only other time coming against Virginia in 1990.
