BRADENTON, Fla. – Former Wake Forest women's basketball player Dearica Hamby and the Las Vegas Aces advanced to the WNBA Finals on Tuesday night, defeating the Connecticut Sun 66-63 in game five.

Hamby and the Aces are set to face the Seattle Storm, who captured the WNBA title in 2018. The series is slated to start on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

This is just the second time the franchise has made the Finals. The only other time came during the 2008 season as the San Antonio Silver Stars, nine seasons before the franchise relocated to Las Vegas.

Hamby has played a key role in turning the franchise around since being drafted sixth overall by the team in 2015. Over the last three seasons, the Aces have increased their winning percentage by 20 percent each season, finishing with the best record in the WNBA and earning the top overall season this season.

After capturing her second consecutive WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year Award, Hamby was in the midst of having her best pro season yet before suffering a season-ending injury in the playoffs.

She averaged a career-high 13.0 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game in the regular season. Hamby also averaged 28.3 minutes during the regular season and 25.0 in her three playoff games.
