John Wolford becomes first Wake Forest quarterback to start in NFL Playoffs.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wild Card weekend in the NFL was memorable for several Demon Deacon alumni.
Saturday included a #ProDeacs matchup in Seattle that pitted starting quarterback John Wolford and the Rams against Phil Haynes and the Seahawks, with Los Angeles leaving with the win.
Sunday featured Kevin Johnson's Browns in a rivalry matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After Cleveland put up 28 points in the first quarter, the two teams traded blows until the Browns came away with a 48-37 victory. This marked the first playoff win for the Browns since 1994, as well as their first win in Pittsburgh since 2003.
Cleveland moves on to face the No. 1 seed Chiefs on Sunday.
Wolford Earns Playoff Start
The Rams faced off against Phil Haynes and the Seattle Seahawks Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Sean McVay announced shortly before kickoff that John Wolford would start under center.
When he took the first snap, Wolford became the first Wake Forest quarterback to start in an NFL playoff game.
He went on to complete three passes for 29 yards and helped the Rams earn the 30-20 victory in Seattle.
Wolford is active again this week, and McVay has yet to reveal the starter for this weekend's divisional matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
