Hartman Named Added to Maxwell Award Watch List

The redshirt sophomore has 11 touchdowns passing touchdowns and 1,285 passing yards including a 324-yard passing performance in Saturday’s win over Louisville.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Wake Forest redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Hartman was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, as announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Wednesday.

This is the second Wake Forest football player up for national player of the year award. Redshirt junior wide receiver Jaquarii Roberson was named to the list prior to the season.

Semifinalists will be announced on Monday Nov. 1 and voting will commence on Nov. 2.

Hartman threw for 324 yards on Saturday, his first 300-yard passing game of the season and the seventh of his career. He has increased his pass yards per game every week this season and has passed for 1,285 passing yards and 11 touchdown passes this season.

The Charlotte, N.C. native has completed 97-of-151 passes to open the season for a completion percentage of 64.3 percent. Wake Forest Sports Hall of Famer Riley Skinner holds the Demon Deacons and ACC record after completing 236-of-326 (72.4%) over 11 games in 2007. 

The redshirt sophomore engineered a 11-play, 60 yard game-winning drive to lead Wake Forest to its third conference victory of the season. 

Hartman tossed two touchdowns on Saturday afternoon in the win over Louisville, marking the ninth consecutive game he has thrown for at least one touchdown. Additionally, Hartman now has 44 career touchdown passes, moving him into a tie for fourth place on the Wake Forest all-time passing touchdowns list:

Hartman's 11 touchdowns this season are tied for 14th nationally while the Charlotte, N.C. native has only tossed just two interceptions this season. Additionally, his passing efficiency rating of 156.1 ranks 29th among all FBS quarterbacks through five weeks and 80 points responsible for ranks 16th nationally.
