WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest Athletics is proud to partner with the Office of Student Engagement to create a unique preseason event for all students, Deacon Jam!
This men's and women's basketball tipoff event will begin at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 inside Varsity Arena at Reynolds Gymnasium. Wake Forest has decided to postpone the annual President's Ball, previously scheduled for this date, to the spring semester to occur in a safe, healthy environment that will maximize community, connection and belonging.
"Wake Forest Athletics is proud to host this exciting event for students to showcase our men's and women's basketball programs," director of athletics John Currie said. "The event will conclude an exciting Friday for our University and Winston-Salem community as the Deacons host a field hockey and men's soccer match prior to this fun event. Homecoming weekend is special and our staff is grateful for our partnership with the Office of Student Engagement creating another memorable experience for our students."
Wake Forest Athletics will host three events throughout Homecoming Weekend as the field hockey team hosts Boston College at 4 p.m. at Kentner Stadium and men's soccer will host Syracuse at 7 p.m. inside Spry Stadium on Friday prior to Deacon Jam.
Additionally this weekend of exciting events continues on Saturday, Oct. 30 when the No. 19-ranked football team hosts Big 4 rival Duke inside Truist Field.
Tickets for all these three aforementioned contests are available here, while admission is free to Deacon Jam inside Varsity Arena.
Deacon Jam marks the official start to the 2021-22 basketball season when students will have the opportunity to meet each team, hear from Coach Steve Forbes, Coach Jen Hoover and watch a dunk contest, three-point contest and much more.
The first 500 students through the door will get a free t-shirt and they will have the opportunity to compete with the student-athletes in various drills and competitions. Additionally, one lucky student will have the chance to walk away with a $10,000 cash prize!
In accordance with Wake Forest University campus protocols and policies, students who attend Deacon Jam will be fully vaccinated and/or recently tested negative for COVID-19 due to University health and safety protocols. While there will be giveaways at this fun event, masks will be required and there will be no food or drinks served.
The Demon Deacons women's basketball schedule is located here and the men's schedule can be seen here.
Tickets for the season for both programs can be purchased here.
