Hartman Listed as Semifinalist for Walter Camp Player of Year Award

Sam Hartman is one of just eight quarterbacks on the 15 player semifinalist list.
New Haven, Conn. -- Wake Forest redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Hartman was named as a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of Year Award, as announced Thursday afternoon.
The Charlotte, N.C. native is now a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, Top 10 Candidate for the Golden Arm Award, semifinalist for the O'Brien Award and semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of Year.
The award is presented annually to the nation's best college football player.
The 15-player watch list includes eight quarterbacks, four defensive players, two running backs and one wide receiver. Thirteen different schools and six conferences are represented on the list.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be announced on Thursday, December 2, and the winner announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on Thursday, December 9.
Hartman currently ranks in the top 10 in nearly every passing category:

Hartman finished the Deacs' most recent contest with 25-of-51 for 398 yards and five touchdowns. This is the second time this season Hartman has tossed five touchdowns, tying a program record, as the redshirt sophomore is the only Demon Deacon in history to tally five passing touchdowns twice in their careers:

Additionally, Hartman produced two rushing touchdowns, marking the first time of his career with back-to-back multi rushing touchdown games. Furthermore, Hartman has registered a rushing touchdown in five straight games, dating back to Oct. 2 against Louisville.
Hartman became the first quarterback in Wake Forest history to have five consecutive 300-plus yard passing games.
Over the past five games, Hartman has thrown the ball for 1,912 yards, 18 touchdowns and just four interceptions while completing his passes at a 60.3 clip.
Hartman's five touchdown passes Saturday increased his career total to 60, tying Riley Skinner for the most career touchdown passes in Wake Forest history:
