John Hayes Named Southeast Region Coach of the Year

John Hayes received the Southeast Region Coach of the Year honor for the second consecutive year after taking the team title at the Southeast Region Championships for the first time since 1993.
NEW ORLEANS – Wake Forest men's cross country head coach John Hayes received Southeast Region Coach of the Year on Tuesday, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Hayes received the Southeast Region Coach of the Year honor for the second consecutive year. The Demon Deacons placed third overall in the ACC, with both junior Zach Facioni and redshirt junior Aaron Las Heras earning All-ACC honors.
The team took the team title at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, marking the best regional finish for the program since 1993. All seven runners placed inside the top-25 for the Demon Deacons to earn All-Region honors. Only three teams in the country had all seven of their athletes earn All-Region honors - Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Wake Forest.
Wake Forest capped off another stellar season by posting their best finish since 1992 with a top-10 finish at the NCAA Championships. Facioni became the first Demon Deacon to earn All-America honors in back-to-back years in program history with his team leading 19th place finish.
