Kyle Holcomb Earns National Team of the Week Honors

The senior has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week as he has collected three goals so far in the NCAA Tournament.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Following a three-goal week in which Wake Forest advanced to the program's seventh-straight Sweet Sixteen appearance, senior Kyle Holcomb has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week.
Holcomb, who now has 12 goals this season, notched his first brace of the season in Wake Forest's 2-1 victory over Mercer in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Then on Sunday, the San Marcos, Calif., native got Wake Forest's offense going with the first of the Demon Deacons' three goals in a 3-2 victory over No. 13 seed FIU.
With those victories, Wake Forest is now 10-1-0 when Holcomb has scored this season.
Dating back to last season, Holcomb has now scored six goals in his last four NCAA Tournament appearances as has scored nine career goals in the postseason tournament.
Heading into this weekend's Sweet Sixteen showdown with No. 4 seed Notre Dame, Holcomb is tied for the seventh-most goals (33) in program history with Cody Arnoux and is ninth in career points with 74.
The Demon Deacons and Fighting Irish will face off on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Alumni Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
