Williams Named ACC Player of Week

The Milwaukee, Wisc. native recorded the first triple-double by a Demon Deacon since Tim Duncan in 1996 on Saturday night versus USC Upstate.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Graduate guard Alondes Williams was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after a historic performance in Wake Forest's ninth victory of the season against USC Upstate, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. 

Williams became the first Demon Deacon to reel in the conference honor since Olivier Sarr on March 2, 2020 after leading the Demon Deacons with a team-high tying 16 points, team-high 14 rebounds and team-high 10 assists as the Milwaukee, Wis. native recorded the first triple double by a Demon Deacon since Tim Duncan in 1996.

Additionally, his 14 rebounds and 10 assists marked new career highs for Williams.

Williams is the 35th player in ACC history to notch a triple-double as well as just the sixth player to reach the mark this season. 

Williams has been instrumental in Wake Forest's 9-1 start, the program's best start through 10 games since the 2008-09 season (10-0). 

Currently, Williams ranks second in league in assists (4.90/game) , third in scoring (18.2/game) and fourth in field goal percentage (.571). 

The Deacs return to the hardwood on Tuesday, Dec.14 for another home tilt against VMI at 7:00 p.m.
