Parks is the first Demon Deacon to be nominated to the All-America Team since 2011.

KANSAS City, Mo. – Wake Forest's Kaitlyn Parks has been named a Second Team All-America honoree by United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced Thursday (December 2).

Parks, a redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper, is the first Wake Forest player since 2011 to earn All-America recognition and became the third to be named to the Second Team.

A total of 47 NCAA Division I players received All-American recognition this season. The group will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Sat., Jan. 22, 2022, at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches National Convention.

A standout from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Parks led a young Wake Forest backline by starting 20 of the 22 matches. Parks earned 14 wins with nine clean sheets, tied for the second-most in program history and 15th most in the nation. Parks earned a 0.78 goals against average, giving her the third best goals against average in a single season in program history. She posted a .795 save percentage with 58 saves on 183 shots faced.

Parks and the Demon Deacon defense recorded 12 shutouts, tying for the most since 2017 and set a record for most consecutive shutouts when they began the season with eight. Parks helped limit the opponent's offenses to a combined 17 goals, a new program record for fewest goals allowed in a single season.

Earlier this year, Parks was the first player in ACC history to be announced as the Defensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks.

Wake Forest joined Florida State (three nods), Virginia (two nods), Duke, North Carolina and Clemson as ACC Conference schools to earn All-American recognition (nine total selections) this season.
