WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- For the 10th-straight season Wake Forest men's soccer will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, as the postseason for the Demon Deacons will begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, facing Coastal Carolina in a second round matchup at Spry Stadium.
Wake Forest enters this year's tournament as the current No. 5 team in the country at 11-2-2 on the season. The Demon Deacons have extended the country's longest streak in the top-25 of the United Soccer Coaches poll to 84-straight weeks while also remaining in the top-10 for the last 64 installments.
The Demon Deacons in the fall clinched a competitive South Region that featured 10 of the last 12 combined Atlantic and Coastal Champions. In the spring, despite losing 10 players from the fall roster including six who turned pro, Wake Forest was the only ACC program to score points in every conference match in which it played.
This year's selection into the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship marks the 10th consecutive season Wake Forest has made the tournament and the 24th time overall in program history.
Under current head coach Bobby Muuss, Wake Forest has advanced to the 2016 and 2019 College Cups and is 12-5-0 in NCAA Men's Soccer Championship action over his six seasons in the position.
Spry Stadium was selected as a host site for this year's NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, as the entirety of the tournament is being held in the state of North Carolina. Since the iconic college soccer venue opened in the City of Winston-Salem, Wake Forest has held 38 NCAA Tournament matches.
Wake Forest will host three matches on the opening weekend of this year's tournament including a first round matchup between American and Jacksonville and the winner facing Clemson.
The College Cup this year will be held on May 14-17 in Cary, N.C.
