Kyle Holcomb Named College Soccer News’ Player of the Week

The junior takes home the national honor after recording his second brace of the season in a 2-1 victory over Kentucky.
CARY, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's soccer junior Kyle Holcomb has been named College Soccer News's Player of the Week after his brace helped propel the Demon Deacons to a 2-1 victory over Kentucky in the Round of 16 of the 2020 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Holcomb opened the scoring against the Wildcats in the 20th minute, collecting a pass from freshman Hosei Kijima. Then in the 62nd minute, the two paired up again to give the Demon Deacons a two-goal lead before winning by a final of 2-1.
It was the San Marcos Calif., native's second brace of the season and the fourth overall in his career. Holcomb currently leads the Demon Deacons in goals this season with eight.
Wake Forest returns to action this afternoon to face North Carolina in the Elite Eight. The match will begin at 5 p.m. from WakeMed Field #2.
