Wake Forest in Position to Advance at NCAA Regionals

Heading into the final day of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, the Wake Forest men’s golf team sits in fourth place at 3-under-par.
CLE ELUM, Wash. - With one round to play in the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, the Wake Forest men's golf team sits in position to punch its ticket to the NCAA Championships after 36 holes of play.
The Demon Deacons currently sit in fourth place with a two-round total of 565 (-3) and are three strokes above the cutline heading into the final round on Wednesday.
Junior Alex Fitzpatrick continues to shine this postseason with a second round 68 (-3) to keep himself in contention for the individual crown. After carding birdies on No. 8 and No. 9 before the turn, Fitzpatrick carried the momentum to the back nine where he was 3-under-par.
He currently sits second on the leaderboard and is one of just three players in the 77-player field to card a pair of rounds 68 or below.
Also inside of the top 10 is senior Parker Gillam who also had a strong finish to his second round. The Cary, N.C. native carded a birdie on the par-five 14th and another on the par-four 18th to finish with a round of 73 (+2).
All five Demon Deacons ended their round with a birdie on the par-four 18th to help elevate the team back up the leaderboard. The Deacs enter the final just three strokes off third and four strokes off second place.
Wake Forest final round tee times will begin at 11:20 a.m. ET on Wednesday and the Demon Deacons will be paired with Utah and Pepperdine.
