SUGAR GROVE, Ill. -- Wake Forest head women's golf coach Kim Lewellen led Team USA to five match play wins on Friday on the first day of competition at the Arnold Palmer Cup. Friday's round was a mixed fourball with two individuals from Team USA competing against a pairing from the International Team.
Emilia Miglaccio, who is the first woman to compete in four Arnold Palmer Cups, played with UNF's Nick Gabrelcik and they shot seven-under par. The duo defeated Florida's Yuxin Lin and UCLA's Emma Spitz from Team International.
Additionally for Team USA and Wake Forest, Rachel Kuehn played with NC State's Benjamin Shipp and they carded a three-under through 15 holes. The tandem dropped its match with Illinois' Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Texas' Agathe Laisne.
Finally for the Demon Deacons on the International side, Alex Fitzpatrick and Lauren Walsh played together and shot eight-under par. The Demon Deacon duo tied Florida's Ricky Castillo and Louisville's Lauren Hartlage.
Competition continues on Saturday with foursomes and mixed foursomes.

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The United States leads the series 12-11-1.
