WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Michael Bingham, an Olympic Bronze Medalist and eight-time ACC champion, joins this week's edition of the Deac2Deac Podcast.
Bingham began his Demon Deacon career in 2005, winning the grueling decathlon (10 events over two days) at the ACC Championship as a freshman and went on to win the USATF decathlon that summer. The Burlington, N.C. native would go on to see action in the next four seasons, culminating in an Olympic Bronze Medal, NCAA Championship Indoor title, eight ACC Championship titles and record-holder in both the indoor and outdoor 400 meters for Wake Forest.
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Bingham and the Brits finished fourth with Bingham running the third leg. He took the baton in sixth place and moved up into fourth. It took years but the Russians were forced to vacate their third place finish, allowing Bingham and his teammates Andrew Steele, Robert Tobin and Martyn Rooney to claim the bronze medal.
On today's pod, Bingham joins alum Kevin Smith to talk about his highly successful career and why he chose Wake Forest.
