Demon Deacons Announce 2021-22 Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's golf program announced its slate of tournaments for the upcoming 2021-22 season on Thursday.

The nine tournament regular season schedule features a pair of home events including the return of the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational in September. The Deacs will also host the Wake Forest Invitational at historic Pinehurst No. 2 in March. Wake Forest took home its second consecutive title at the Wake Forest Invitational this spring, winning by nine strokes while Michael Brennan claimed the individual title.

"We're excited about this upcoming season," head coach Jerry Haas said. "We have some great young players coming. We're going to some historic courses around the country including our two home tournaments at Old Town Club and Pinehurst. Our schedule challenges us against some of the best teams in the nation, so we're ready to get to work. It's a great time to be a Demon Deacon!"

Both Pinehurst No. 2 and Old Town Club rank amongst the top-25 courses in the nation according to AmateurGolf.com. Additionally, Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, where the Demon Deacons will contest for the Colonial Collegiate Invitational title in October, ranks in the top-100 nationally according to the publication.

Aside from playing at some of the most treasured courses in the United States, Wake Forest's regular season slate also features some of the toughest fields in collegiate golf.

Both the Southwestern Invitational in Westlake Village, Calif. and the Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. are placed in the top-100 amateur tournaments in the world according to the latest rankings by ScratchPlayers.org.

Last season, Alex Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Collegiate, taking the title by three strokes as the Demon Deacons placed second in the tournament.

The Deacs will also make their return to the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational where they tied for first at 22-under-par including three individuals inside of the top five.
