The former Wake Forest men’s golfer had eight top-10s including a Masters runner-up finish over the last season.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Former Wake Forest men's golfer Will Zalatoris was voted as the Arnold Palmer Award winner for the 2020-21 season Monday, given to the PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year.
The Rookie of the Year Award, named after the former Demon Deacon legend Arnold Palmer, was just recently renamed in 2019 to pay tribute to one of the game's greatest players.
Zalatoris became one of the stars of the PGA TOUR during the 2020-21 season, announcing his place as one of the game's best during the 85th Masters in April. In his debut in the game's most historic tournament, Zalatoris finished as the runner up in the event.
This helped him earn Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the season.
In total, Zalatoris entered 25 events with eight top-10s highlighted by the runner-up at the 2021 Masters Tournament. He led the non-member FedExCup standings with 1,296 points
In those 25 events played, he recorded a total of 14 top-25s and made 21 cuts.
After finishing 14th on the Korn Ferry Tour standings, Zalatoris enters the 2021-22 season as a full-time member of the PGA TOUR for the first time.
The Rookie of the Year award was determined by a member vote, with PGA TOUR members who played in at least 15 official FedExCup events during the 2020-21 season eligible to vote.
