
Strong Front Nine Helps Deacs Elevate Up Leaderboard at Maridoe Collegiate

At the turn, the Demon Deacons were 4-under-par, helping boost them up four spots on the leaderboard.
CARROLLTON, Texas -- The Wake Forest men's golf team made the largest jump on the leaderboard out of anyone in the field during the second round of the Maridoe Collegiate on Tuesday.
The Demon Deacons were led by junior Alex Fitzpatrick and freshman Scotty Kennon, who both carded rounds of below par. The Deacs enter the final round tied for ninth as a team.
Fitzpatrick, who shaved seven strokes off his score from Monday, jumped 31 spots on the individual leaderboard and is now tied for 24th entering the third round. Kennon also shaved seven strokes off his score with a 71 (-1) for the first under-par round of his collegiate career.
Kennon is tied with Fitzpatrick for 24th on the individual leaderboard.
Parker Gillam also made a jump individually, leaping 19 spots to tie for 36th with his 73 (+1) on Tuesday afternoon.
Brennan is still the top Demon Deacon on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore is tied for 17th.
Wake Forest will tee off the final round of the Maridoe Collegiate on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET. The Deacs will be paired with Florida Gulf Coast (+29) and North Texas (+29), who are both tied for 11th.

RICHMOND, Va. -- The trio of Wake Forest men's golfers finished their first tournament of the season at the VCU Shootout in Richmond, Va.
In his first event as a collegiate golfer, freshman Marshall Meisel claimed his first career top-25 finish, posting a final round of 71 (-1) to end the week one-under par.
He was just one of 16 players to record a score of par or better in each of the three rounds this week.
BJ Rogillio also moved up on the final day with the help of an under-par round. He carded the Deacs lowest round of the week with a 70 (-2) to finish in a tie for 39th on the individual leaderboard.
Daniel Sheedy nearly ended up in the top 50, finished just outside at 5-over for the week and tied for 51st.
