WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Junior kicker Nick Sciba was named a "Star of the Week" by the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award after a historic night in Wake Forest's week four win at Virginia, as announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commision on Monday morning.
The 2019 All-American earned "Star of the Week" honors twice a season ago.
Sciba marked his place in the Wake Forest and NCAA record books on Friday night in Charlottesville, going a perfect three-of-three on field goals while adding four extra points in the 37-17 win. The trio of field goal makes increased his career percentage to 90.1 (64-of-71), the highest in NCAA history, and marked his 17th, 18th and 19th-straight successful try, the longest active streak in the NCAA.
Additionally, Sciba now holds the program record in points with 338, passing Wake Forest Sports Hall of Famer Sam Swank with his third field goal of the game in the fourth quarter.
Sciba, a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award the past two seasons, was one of 30 returning kickers to be recognized on the 2021 preseason list for the accolade given to the nation's top place-kicker. He is one of just four players to be named as a semifinalist the past two seasons. Additionally, Sciba has been named an All-ACC honoree five times prior to the 2021 season, including a trio of First Team distinctions.
