Deacs Set Program Record; Seven Land on All-ACC Academic Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Seven members of the Wake Forest women's soccer team have been named to the All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the league office on Thursday
The seven players on the All-ACC Academic team improved the previous record of six Deacs on the team. The student-athletes include graduate students Hulda Arnarsdittor, Ryanne Brown, Jenna Menta, seniors Sofia Rossi, Shayla Smart, junior Kaitlyn Parks and freshman Nikayla Small.
This is the second time Arnarsdottir and Parks have been placed on the academic team, having both earned previous honors in 2019 and 2021. Additionally, Brown, Menta, Rossi, Small and Smart earned their first academic honors as Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest's nationally-ranked women's soccer team finished 25th in the final United Soccer Coaches polls. The Demon Deacons made their 21st overall NCAA Tournament appearance after finishing the season at 16-6. The Deacs recorded 12 shutouts, tying the most since 2017 and set a new record for the fewest goals allowed in a single season with 17. Wake Forest also set a new record for most consecutive shutouts when they began the season with eight consecutive shutouts to start the season.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in the selection process.

- Scored in three-straight games against Boston College (9/23), Syracuse (9/26) and Louisville (10/2).

- Started and appeared in 20 games, collecting 1579 minutes.
- Recorded five points on one goal and three assists during the season.
- Drafted in Round 2 and 21st overall by OL Reign in the NWSL draft.
- This is her first All-ACC Academic honor.
- Appeared in all 22 games, starting 18 of those games and totaling 1480 minutes.
- Recorded 19 points on six goals and seven assists.
- Drafted in Round 3 and 30th overall by Racing Louisville in the NWSL draft.
- This is her first All-ACC Academic honor.
- Parks is the first Wake Forest player since 2011 to earn All-America recognition and became the third to be named to the Second Team.
- Earned 14 wins with nine clean sheets, tied for the second-most in program history and 15th most in the nation.
- Collected a 0.78 goals against average, giving her the third best goals against average in a single season in program history.
- Posted a .795 save percentage with 58 saves on 183 shots faced.
- This is her second All-ACC Academic honor.
- Played and started in all 22 games, collecting the third most minutes on the team with 1629 minutes.
- Recorded 22 points on nine goals and four assists to cap off a tremendous season.
- Posted three goals in the final five games, including three game winners.
- Secured two-goal games against Youngstown St. (8/29) and Virginia Tech (10/10).
- This is her first All-ACC Academic honor.
- Played in 20 games, starting 19 of those and collecting 1402 minutes.
- Recorded seven points, one goal and five assists during the season.
- Invited to join the Canadian Women's National Team on their Celebration Tour for the October international window from Oct. 23 - Oct. 26.
- Landed on the All-ACC Freshman Team.
- This is her first All-ACC Academic honor.
- One of the most potent scorers in the ACC this year, Smart finished the season with 11 goals and three assists.
- Ranked seventh in the ACC with 25 points, suiting up in all 22 matches, finishing the season tied for seventh in program history in a single season.
- Selected to the All-ACC Third Team.
- She earned her first United Soccer Coaches All-Region award.
- This is her first All-ACC Academic honor.
