Dortch sees roles expand in Cardinals victory over Cowboys while Haynes earns first career start for Seahawks.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Week 17 matchup featured a Pro Deac vs. Pro Deac matchup in Los Angeles as the Chargers took on the Denver Broncos.
Essang Bassey and the Chargers earned a 34-13 victory over Kendall Hinton, Justin Strnad and the Broncos. Hinton finished the game with a pair of receptions for 23 yards while also completing his first pass of the season in 36 offensive snaps played. Strnad totaled a near season-best 22 snaps on special teams in the loss.
Dortch with Multiple Career Firsts in Win
After returning three kickoffs for the playoff bound Arizona Cardinals a week ago, former Wake Forest star receiver Greg Dortch saw his role expand against the NFC East Champion Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, making his first career start.
Dortch pulled in his first career reception for 10 yards while also having a rushing attempt that went for 24 yards. Overall, Dortch played in 22 percent of the Cardinals offensive snaps, totaling 17 offensive snaps and 21 snaps total in the game.
He helped the Cardinals grab a crucial 25-22 victory over the Cowboys to improve to 11-5 on the season.
Haynes Earns Praise After First Career Start
Also out west in Seattle, third-year offensive lineman Phil Haynes earned his first career start on Sunday as the Seahawks hosted the Detroit Lions. Haynes played in all 72 offensive snaps at left guard and played in 81 total snaps.
Haynes earned praise for his performance from head coach Pete Carroll after the 51-29 victory.
"Phil played a really nice football game, he played physical, he was on point with his calls and his assignments, and he's a tough guy," Carroll said. "He plays a lot like Gabe (Jackson), they have very much similar styles, they are real physical, have real strong upper bodies, and are hard to knock back. He had a good effort and he played really well."
