Gebbia is the 11th Women’s Basketball Head Coach in Wake Forest’s History
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be led out onto the field this Saturday, Oct. 22, by head women's basketball coach Megan Gebbia, which is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Truist Field.
The Maryland native arrives in Winston-Salem after spending the last nine seasons at American University. She led the Eagles to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2014-15 season, before doing it twice more in 2018 and 2022. Additionally, she made two WNIT appearances in 2014 and 2019. She joins the Demon Deacons with a 160-105 record as a head coach, including five 20-win seasons.
In addition to the team success over the last nine years, she coached three Patriot League Players of the Year, five Patriot League Scholar Athletes of the Year, a Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and 25 All-Patriot League selections.
Prior to American, Gebbia spent 10 seasons as the associate head coach of the mid-major powerhouse, Marist. The Red Foxes made the NCAA Tournament nine times during that stretch, including a Sweet 16 Appearance in 2007.
Gebbia and the Demon Deacons will get the 2022-23 campaign underway on Nov. 7, as they take on Elon at LJVM Coliseum at 5 p.m.
