WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jim Carter was a part of the original four student athletes that integrated Wake Forest. The New York native was also on the trailblazer award panel for Bob Grant.
Carter grew up on a farm in Livingston Manor. Following graduation, he started managing the day-to-day operation of his family business, Ophelia DeVore Associates. He also taught classes on professional presentation, vocal dynamics, visual poise and "magic of the mind."
He has since continued to share DeVore wisdom while training politicians, entertainers and business executives. He made it his life's purpose to help others understand the profound personal and professional effects of feeling good about themselves.
He and his wife, Gayle, have been married for over 50 years. They have three children and nine grandchildren.
