#ProDeacs: Week Eight Recap

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Week eight of the 2022 NFL season saw an NFL debut for a Wake Forest legend, a lot of Demon Deacon wins and a great performance on Halloween night.

Debut Alert

The most accurate kicker in college football history, Nick Sciba, made his NFL debut against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He was perfect on both of his field goal attempts from 38 and 30 yards out. The Colver, S.C. also nailed his lone PAT attempt as he continued his perfect streak after going 193-193 at Wake Forest.

With Sciba's signing this week, 18 Wake Forest football alumni are now either on NFL active rosters or on practice squads.

Scary Good

Jessie Bates III led the Bengals with a season-high 10 tackles against the Cleveland Browns on Halloween night. He also recorded a 79.9 PFF rating, which set a season high and led Cincinnati. Of all the safeties that have faced at least 200 rushing downs, Bates III ranks third with a 78.8 rush defense PFF grade this season. This also ranks second of all defensive players on the Bengals.

Beef Boys Update

Zach Tom made his second-consecutive start on the Packers offensive line, this time at guard. He played all 66 offensive snaps and helped Green Bay rush for over 200 yards. Tom ranked second on the Packers offensive line and fourth overall offensively with a 73.0 PFF grade against the Bills.

Phil Haynes continued to get a lot of reps at guard for the Seattle Seahawks and helped pave the way for a 27-13 win over the New York Giants to improve to 5-3 and take control of the NFC west. Haynes ranks second on the team this season with a 68.8 pass blocking rating.
