The redshirt junior goes into the final two weeks of the season with 100 career touchdowns, just seven away from the ACC record.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Wake Forest football redshirt junior quarterback Sam Hartman was named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, as announced by Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee on Tuesday afternoon.

Hartman is one of 20 semifinalists for the award and one of just nine quarterbacks in the country to be named a semifinalist each of the last two seasons. Additionally, he is one of just three quarterbacks in the ACC to be listed.

He has helped lead the Demon Deacons their program-record seventh-straight bowl berth and he has overcome many challenges in his life to achieve the great things he has done on the field, in the classroom and in the community. He is a three-time team captain for the Wake Forest football team.

Overall this season entering Week 12, Hartman has completed 191-of-307 passes for 2,743 yards and 28 touchdowns. Hartman has accounted for a touchdown in 31-straight games, which is the longest active streak in the country.

This marked Hartman's 31st-straight game with a touchdown, the longest active streak in the nation. For his career, Hartman broke the Wake Forest all-time passing mark against Liberty, eclipsing Riley Skinner (2006-09) with a five-yard pass to Ke'Shawn Williams in the third quarter. He became the 41st player in NCAA history and just the third passer in the history of the ACC to eclipse the 12,000-yard passing barrier for his career:

1.    Philip Rivers, NC State (2000-03)        13,484

2.    Kenny Pickett, Pitt (2017-21)            12,303

3.    Sam Hartman, Wake Forest (2018-Pres.)    12,009

4.    Tajh Boyd, Clemson (2010-13)            11,904

5.    Ryan Finley, NC State (2014-18)        10,501

10.    Brad Kaaya, Miami (2014-16)            9,968

The Charlotte, N.C. product already holds the program record for touchdown passes and ranks second in ACC history in this category with 100 for his career, just seven off the record held by former Clemson quarterback Tahj Boyd (107):

1. Tajh Boyd, Clemson (2010-13) – 107

2 Sam Hartman, Wake Forest (2018-Present) – 100

8. Chris Weinke, Florida State (1997-00) – 79

9. Russell Wilson, NC State (2008-10) – 76

With 100 career passing touchdowns and 18 career rushing scores, Hartman's 118 total touchdowns are the fourth most in conference history:
