Thank You, Demon Deacons! Wake Forest Set to Honor 58 Students on Saturday at Truist Field
Wake Forest Athletics will honor 22 football players, 15 members of the Spirit of the Old Gold & Black, 15 Deacs from the Spirit Squads and six student staffers on Saturday before the football game.
"Our senior class, what can I say," head coach Dave Clawson said. "They have been a part of one of the most magical rides that I have ever experienced in my coaching career. The examples they have set for our players, our students and our entire Athletics department, I am beyond proud. It's been an unbelievable honor to be their coach over the past four, five, six, and in one case, seven years. We love these guys and we're proud that they are all Deacs. I want to thank them for representing Wake Forest University with such class."
"Senior day is a celebration of the accomplishments and incredible experiences in the careers of Wake Forest students as members of the football team, Spirit of the Old Gold and Black, spirit squads and support groups," said director of athletics John Currie. "With Coach Clawson's guidance, these 22 football student-athletes have achieved new heights, including a program record seventh-consecutive bowl trip and we are proud to recognize them before our passionate Truist Field crowd. We encourage all fans to arrive early for Saturday evening's special pregame ceremony! Additionally, stay on the lookout for our halftime ceremony with our members of the Spirit of the Old Gold & Black, Spirit Squads and our student football staff members."
Several football student-athletes being honored on Saturday have remaining eligibility and following this season will assess the potential of returning for the 2023 season.

Open the Gate - Dr. Cecil Price
-
Dr. Cecil Price, a Wake Forest graduate and Fellow of the American College Health Association (ACHA), will lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons onto the field this Saturday, Nov. 19, against the Syracuse Orange.
-
Price has been a supporting and contributing member of ACHA since beginning his college health career as an assistant director with Duke University Student Health in 1988. In 1991, he returned to his alma mater to serve as the director of the student health service.
-
For the past 27 years, Dr. Price has been the inspiration and the guiding force behind the design, direction, and culture at Wake Forest University student health service. He has built a solid foundation with a mission of promoting and advancing the health and well-being of Wake Forest University students. Wake Forest University student health is one of a handful of campus health centers that is open and accessible 24 hours during the academic year. He is also a member of the senior leadership team with the Division of Campus Life at WFU.
-
For almost three decades, Dr. Price has exhibited leadership and dedication to the many lives he has touched. He has spearheaded numerous initiatives over the years. In 1992, he was at the forefront of developing peer-led sexual education programs inspired by the growing epidemic of HIV and new understandings of its epidemiology.
-
In 2009, he created the university's first Substance Abuse and Prevention Office to support administrative efforts to reduce alcohol related events. In 2012, he helped establish and create the first sexual and relationship violence advocacy program on campus. In 2015, he was instrumental in developing the Office of Wellbeing at Wake Forest University, a proactive and holistic approach to promoting health that dovetails with his ongoing care for students in the clinic on a day-to-day basis.
-
On May 29, 2019, he was named Fellow of the ACHA. The Fellow designation is awarded annually to a select few professionals demonstrating outstanding service to ACHA.
