Wake Forest Set to Face Virginia in the ACC Tournament

The Demon Deacons head into the conference tournament coming off back–to-back quarterfinal appearances in the 2021 and 2020 ACC Tournaments.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team will be the No. 11 seed in the ACC Tournament, as announced by the league office Sunday night.
Come support your Demon Deacons (14-15, 4-14 ACC) as they are set to play No. 14 seed Virginia (5-21, 2-16 ACC) in the first round Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (ET) in Greensboro. ACC Tournament tickets are set to go on sale Monday at 10 a.m.
This marks the ninth neutral site contest between the two schools with Virginia holding a 7-1 advantage heading into Wednesday. Wake Forest's lone win came in the 2011 ACC Tournament with a 74-68 victory over the Cavaliers.
The winner of the game will face No. 6 seed Georgia Tech (20-9, 11-7 ACC) at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Both games will be broadcasted on RSN.

Hosted at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the tournament will run through the championship game set for noon (ET) on March 6.

This marked the third consecutive win for the Demon Deacons against the Cavaliers. Additionally, this is the second-straight win over Virginia at home. The first time both of those streaks have happened in series history.

Sophomore guard Jewel Spear led the way offensively for Wake Forest, totaling a game-high 17 points. Three fellow Deacs joined her in double-digit scoring: junior forward Olivia Summiel with 14 points, junior forward Niyah Becker with 11 points and junior guard Alexandria Scruggs with 10 points. Becker also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
