Deacs Sit Inside Top Five After First Day of Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team is currently tied for fourth place after the first 18 holes of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The course played relatively tough the first day, as no team is currently under par, and the individual leader is just two under.
Freshman Carolina Chacarra leads the Deacs at even par and tied for eighth. Junior Rachel Kuehn and sophomore Mimi Rhodes also sit inside the top 25, at T22 and two over. Lauren Walsh is T37 at three over and Virunpat Olankitkunchai is T47 at four over.
The Deacs were third in the field with 61 pars in the first round. They also recorded the third-best average score on the par four holes, behind LSU and Baylor. Chacarra was second in the field with five birdies over her first round. Chacarra, Kuehn and Walsh all birdied their final hole of the day, the par four 18th.
Round Two
Wake Forest will continue to be paired with LSU and Arizona State for Tuesday's second round. Tee times for the Deacs begin at 11:20 in 10-minute intervals off the first tee.
