WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's soccer team drew with NC State in the first home game of the 2022 spring season.
The Demon Deacons and the Wolfpack were deadlocked at zero through the first 30 minute period. Neither team was able to find an opening goal thanks to some stout defensive efforts on both sides. However, the back and forth play of the game meant there was never a dull moment.
The game began to open up during the second period of play. The Deacs best chance came from a Carrie McIntire shot that was saved by the NC State goalkeeper. McIntire had another chance prior, but her volleyed effort sailed over the crossbar.
NC State opened the scoring in the beginning of the third period of play. However, the Deacs would respond promptly with an equalizer courtesy of an Emily Morris strike. McIntire provided the assist on what would be the only Demon Deacon goal of the match. With less than a minute to play goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks made an incredible reflex save to tip an NC State effort over the bar to preserve the draw.
