Demon Deacons Three Strokes off Lead after Second Day of Liz Murphey Collegiate

ATHENS, Ga. – The Wake Forest women's golf team is three strokes off the lead after the second day of the Liz Murphey Collegiate.
Rachel Kuehn jumped the pack and led the way for the Deacs in the second round, shooting a team-low one-under 70 to move her 22 spots on the leaderboard and just one stroke off the individual leaders. Birdies on her first and sixth holes got her momentum going early before the turn. She came out of the turn to record back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12. Her fifth birdie of the day on the 17th kept her at two under for the day.
Carolina Chacarra also birdied her first and sixth holes before the turn and was able to record another one, also on the 17th, before finishing her round two over for the day. Chacarra is two strokes behind Kuehn in a tie for ninth on the leaderboard, a three-spot improvement from round one.
Virunpat Olankitkunchai jumped 10 spots on the board with her second-round score of 75 to finish day two in a tie for 12th. Lauren Walsh and Mimi Rhodes round out the Deacs inside the top 25 at T18 and T25.
Wake Forest leads the field with 28 birdies after two rounds play. The Deacs lead the field in scoring on par-three holes and are second on par-four holes. Kuehn is second in the field in scoring on par-fours while Walsh is second in scoring on par-five holes. Walsh and Chacarra lead Wake Forest with seven birdies each.
Final Round
Sunday's final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. Wake Forest will be paired with South Carolina and Texas A&M with tee times starting at 9:39 in nine-minute intervals off hole one.
