Nominations Open for Pete Moffitt, Gene Hooks Awards

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the second-straight year, Wake Forest University has opened nominations for some of its most prestigious awards to the public. The nomination portals are now open for fans to submit worthy candidates for the Pete Moffitt Courage Award and the Dr. Gene Hooks Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nominations for these awards will close on April 30.

Established in 2012, the Pete Moffitt Courage Award is given in recognition of Wake Forest alumnus, Pete Moffitt ('84), who displayed tremendous courage while battling ALS. This honor is given annually to a Wake Forest student-athlete, coach, or alumnus who has demonstrated Pete's great courage in his or her own endeavors.

The Gene Hooks Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a former Wake Forest athlete, manager, coach or administrator who has exhibited traits of integrity, charity, leadership and who embodies the Pro Humanitate spirit that Dr. Gene Hooks, former Director of Athletics, exhibited over his 45 years associated with Wake Forest.

Nominations for each award can be from any fan and will be selected by Wake Forest's Deacon Club.
